Sven Utermöhlen will leave his role as chief executive of RWE Offshore Wind on 30 September 2026, with Tobias Keitel set to succeed him from 1 October 2026.
RWE said Utermöhlen (pictured) will not renew his contract and will continue to advise its offshore wind business for six to twelve months.
The company added that Keitel, currently chief technology officer, will take over as CEO while Julian Garnsey will become CTO from the same date.
“My special thanks go to Sven Utermöhlen. With his many years of expertise in wind energy and his strong personal commitment, he has significantly driven forward the expansion of our offshore wind portfolio in recent years,” said Markus Krebber, chief executive of RWE AG.
The management board under Keitel will continue to include chief financial officer Gunhild Grieve, chief commercial officer Ulf Kerstin and chief operating officer Thomas Michel.
“In Tobias Keitel, we have an excellent successor who, as CEO, will use his strategic and operational leadership experience to further develop our offshore wind business. Julian Garnsey strengthens the management team with his extensive expertise in the construction of large offshore wind farms,” said Markus Krebber.
Garnsey has led RWE’s offshore wind construction projects since 2023 as director of construction and project delivery.
RWE is currently building four offshore wind projects with a combined capacity of 4.8GW, of which 3.1GW represents its share.
