Senior vice president and head of Vattenfall’s wind business area Gunnar Groebler will leave the company next spring to become CEO of the German steel and technology company Saltzgitter AG.
The company said that in order to secure a smooth transition and handover Groebler will remain in his current role until latest May 2021.
“The recruitment process for a successor starts immediately,” the company said in a statement.
Groebler joined Vattenfall in 1999 and has been “essential in making Vattenfall a leading company in renewable energy production”, the company said.
President and CEO of Vattenfall Magnus Hall said: “Gunnar has had a long career in Vattenfall and has played a key role in driving our development and growth within wind and solar. His strong commitment to Vattenfall’s strategy and to lead his team to new wins and successes has contributed strongly to what we are as a company today. We wish him all the best in his new position.”
Groebler said after 21 exciting and rewarding years at Vattenfall, he has decided to move on. “I´m looking back to a great journey, developing the Vattenfall Wind and Solar business to one of the leaders in this industry and strongly underlining Vattenfall´s leading role in the energy transition,” he added.
