Vinod Philip has succeeded Jochen Eickholt as Siemens Gamesa’s new chief executive today.
Under Philip’s (pictured) leadership the wind power division will be integrated into the group’s management structure.
Back in May Eickholt informed the Board of Directors of Siemens Gamesa he would step down from his position as chief executive by mutual agreement on 31 July 2024 and then continue to oversee the handover during the transition period until 30 September.
Supervisory Board chairman of Siemens Energy & Daimler Truck Joe Kaeser stated the wind industry has been facing “harsh head winds”, Siemens Gamesa in particular, due to multiple reasons, some of which are “clearly home-made”.
“The fix has been quite costly and there is no room for more errors,” he added.
He congratulated Eickholt for taking the first important steps to bring Siemens Gamesa back to success.
“In his capacity of Siemens Gamesa chief executive, he has addressed and stabilised the processes and procedures and initiated long overdue changes.
“The actions in place are set to bring Siemens Gamesa back to black ink in 2026,” said Kaeser.
Based on these actions, Kaeser said Philip has been tasked by the board to “design and develop the ‘Next generation of Renewable Energy’ within Siemens Energy.
He noted Philip has done similar things before, for gas turbines, adding “he knows how this works and how to build a strong team based on values and high-performance culture”.
Kaeser added: “Jochen, all the best for the future and thank you for your work. Vinod, a good hand, and luck and success with your endeavours.”
Eickholt said it has been a privilege to be part of the Siemens family.
Philip said: “Jochen laid the foundation upon which we can now build the next stage of our journey.
“I’m committed to working closely with the dedicated colleagues at Siemens Gamesa and successfully turning around the wind power business.”
