The Scottish government is to invest an additional £7bn on infrastructure, including clean energy, over and above its existing spending plans by 2026.
The spending was outlined in the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s Programme for Government speech to the Scottish Parliament today.
She said: “Last year’s Programme for Government set us on a path to address the big challenges faced by Scotland and developed economies around the world and it presented a clear vision of the kind of country we want to be.
“This Programme for Government flows from that vision and builds on the progress of the last year and indeed the last decade.”
Scottish Renewables chief executive Claire Mack said: “The £1.5bn a year increase in infrastructure spending, a portion of which is to be invested in low-carbon energy, is to be welcomed, as is the commitment to help innovative companies move into export markets – a sector where our industry has a significant contribution to make.”
