West Dunbartonshire Council has granted local engineering group Malin planning permission for the first phase of its Scottish Marine Technology Park, which will be built on the River Clyde near the Erskine Bridge.
Phase one of the 47-acre project involves the construction of a deep-water jetty with a 1,100 ton ship hoist – the largest of its kind in Scotland.

Malin Group managing director, John MacSween (pictured), said the marine park will be a “magnet” for engineering and technology companies interested in servicing the wider marine industry in the area.
“We already have letters of intent from some key marine organisations who have said if we build it they will come,” he added.
