The energy and climate change select committee is to be dissolved on 17 October following the creation of BEIS.
Subject to a Commons vote, scrutiny of energy and climate policy will be transferred to a rebadged business, energy and industrial strategy select committee.
Membership of the BEIS select committee is expected to change to reflect the expanded brief of the cross-party group of MPs.
The SNP, which held the chairmanship of the ECC committee, will take leadership of a new international trade committee.
