The UK Government has appointed eight energy experts for three years to support delivery of the Clean Power 2030 mission.
The government said the new Clean Power 2030 Advisory Commission will help accelerate its target for a fully clean power system by 2030.
It added that the commission will support Chris Stark, head of Mission Control, in delivering the Clean Power 2030 Action Plan, with one member appointed as Flexibility Commissioner.
Merlin Hyman, chair of Regen, joins offering expertise in data, modelling, flexibility and community energy.
Cathy McClay becomes Flexibility Commissioner and is managing director of the Distribution System Operator at National Grid Distribution.
The government stated that Julia Pyke, managing director of Sizewell C NPP, brings experience in major infrastructure delivery and community engagement.
Alistair Phillips-Davies, who will shortly stand down as chief executive of SSE, adds experience in company leadership and large-scale project development.
Nick Winser, energy commissioner at the National Infrastructure Commission, contributes expertise in transmission and infrastructure.
Juliet Davenport, a commissioner of the Crown Estate, offers knowledge of renewable energy and retail.
Professor Robert Gross joins with experience from Ofgem’s Academic Advisory Panel and the National Grid ESO Markets Advisory Council.
Craig Bennet, chief executive of The Wildlife Trusts, completes the group as a climate and nature advocate.
