Voltalia has signed a PPA for its 526MW hybrid project in Uzbekistan with the state-owned JSC Uzenergosotis.
The Artemisya project combines 126MW of solar, 300MW of wind and 100MW/200MWh of battery storage.
The PPA covers 25 years for solar and wind and 15 years for storage.
It ensures the long-term profitability of this ambitious complex, as well as its financial viability, Voltalia said.
Artemisya will help meet the country’s growing electricity needs, as well as peak consumption at the beginning and end of the day thanks to its storage capacity, it added.
The annual production of this complex represents the equivalent of the electricity consumption of about 2,500,000 inhabitants in Uzbekistan and will avoid the emission of 598,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year in the country.
The project will begin its construction phase in the first quarter of 2026 for the solar and storage part, and in the third quarter of 2026 for the wind part.
In parallel with this PPA, Voltalia has also signed two new cooperation agreements.
The first is an agreement setting out the main terms and conditions for the 500MW/1GWh large storage project, Turan Storage, which is part of the tripartite partnership signed at the last Tashkent Investment Forum with the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.
The second is an agreement setting out the terms of reference for the implementation of a 500-kilowatt agrivoltaics pilot project in the Tashkent region.
The project, which is scheduled to be commissioned in August 2025, will serve as the first test project based on an agrivoltaics concept in Uzbekistan.
With these new advances, Voltalia reaffirms its commitment to support Uzbekistan’s ambitions to reach 8GW of renewable capacity by 2026 and 12GW by 2030.
Robert Klein, chief executive of Voltalia, said: “This signing illustrates our strong commitment to Uzbekistan’s energy transition.
“In line with the discussions initiated on this project in 2022, we are today entering into a significant power purchase agreement, consolidating our activities in the country.”
