Black & Veatch has signed on as technology consultant for Atlantis Resources’ up to 150MW tidal venture in Indonesia with local developer SBS.
The US company will provide a range of technical and project management services to SBS for the scheme, including most elements of a feasibility study.
Last week, Atlantis and SBS signed a memorandum of understanding that could result in a joint venture to build a phased project in the Bali Strait and Lombok Strait costing up to US$750m. A first phase of 12MW is expected to be online by 2018.
“This important renewable energy project has the potential to make a significant contribution to meeting Indonesia’s energy needs, especially on remote islands,” said Black & Veatch tidal director Tim Baker.
“We are delighted SBS has selected Black & Veatch to help use it for the benefit of communities in Indonesia.”
