UK tidal player SBS International and SBS Indonesia have completed a three-month feasibility study to determine the suitability of tidal energy resources in the Larantuka Strait, Indonesia.
The aim would be to drive the development of MW-scale tidal turbine generators to provide power to the communities of East Flores and Adonara.
The draft report has been submitted to Indonesia Power and PLN for review.
State-owned Indonesia Power and off-taker PLN, which is committed to replacing diesel power generators around the Indonesian archipelago as part of its ‘de-dieselisation plan’.
SBS delivered a 220-page main feasibility study report, which included a copy of the survey activity report and raw data analysis report.
SBS Group chairman and chief executive Michael Spencer said: “This is our fifth feasibility study report on Indonesian tidal energy resources and is our most comprehensive tidal energy FS report achievement to date for Indonesia.
“The next stage is to discuss a draft PPA document received from PLN; agree terms and conditions; and together deliver a fully-executed PPA document, after which we expect to announce FID with interested British and European Investors and commence procurement for the FEED activity.”
