Finnish duo Wartsila and AW Energy have signed a cooperation agreement covering sales and delivery of the WaveRoller energy device.
The companies said WaveRoller is now at a stage where commercially operating pilot installations can be delivered to customers.
The pilots will pave the way for WaveRoller’s full commercial roll-out, they added.
Wartsila Energy Solutions Javier Cavada said the partners are working together to identify and develop pilot projects that could form contracts in 2018.
He said: “We have chosen to co-operate with AW Energy to be at the forefront of this development and to offer wave power solutions to our customers worldwide, as a leading energy solutions provider and system integrator.”
AW Energy chief executive John Liljelund said discussions are ongoing for a number of projects that could total about 300MW.
Wartsila is already supplying components for a WaveRoller pilot off Portugal, including bearings, lip seals and hydraulic couplings.
