Spain’s Tecnalia is leading a €1.8m project to develop cost effective components for the reliable and sustainable delivery of wave and tidal energy.
The Oceanera-Net project aims to establish the requirements for monitoring, control and connection components for marine energy arrays.
In particular, it aims to take forward the development of a safety monitoring and control device, a wave measurement buoy, an umbilical cable monitoring unit and an underwater device-to-cable connector for a floating energy converter.
The other partners in the 36-month project are Zunibal, Ditrel Industrial, WavEC Offshore Renewables, Smartbay Ireland, the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult and the Energy Cluster Association of the Basque Country.
