Falmouth wave developer Seatricity is to publish core performance data from its Oceanus 2 wave device redeployed at Wave Hub off the Cornish coast.
In the coming weeks, Seatricity will start testing of the 162kW device to compare its performance with the theoretical predictions for a full range of wave, weather and tidal conditions.
Seatricity said it will publish the data following the initial commissioning phase.
“We intend to share the data and analyse it as part of a dissertation project being conducted by our very own Sebastian Perry as he studies for a part-time MSc in Marine Renewable Energy at Plymouth University,” said Seatricity operations director Andy Bristow.
Seatricity is currently calibrating sensors, analysing the initial results and tweaking settings to optimise performance and explore the impact of various factors and variable, he added.
The device was reinstalled last week having been relaunched from A&P’s shipyard in Falmouth. The device left the Port of Truro under tow by Keynvor MorLift’s specialist support vessel Severn Sea.
