The US Department of Energy is setting up a new $10m testing programme for marine energy technologies.
The US Testing Expertise and Access for Marine Energy Research (Teamer) initiative aims to bring together capabilities from universities and national laboratories to provide marine energy developers with access to test facilities and expertise.
DoE said Teamer is designed to simplify access and reduce costs of testing for marine and hydrokinetic technology developers.
The programme will offer access to testing infrastructure, as well as pair developers with marine energy experts to provide assistance in the design and execution of tests and understanding the implication of results for future design iterations.
Teamer will also establish comparable testing protocols and create a repository of marine energy performance data for the industry as a whole.
