Bute Energy has partnered with environmental consultancy RSK to support Drenewydd Actif Newtown (DAN), a community sports initiative in Powys, Wales.
This collaboration, part of Bute’s social value standard, aims to create an inclusive, purpose-built facility for local sports and social activities.
As part of its commitment, Bute Energy ensures that 2% of contract value goes toward community projects.
RSK provided in-kind support valued at nearly £12,000, conducting essential surveys that helped fast-track the project, saving DAN time and funds.
With pre-planning approvals in place, DAN can now seek major funding, potentially unlocking over £1.15m for the project, which includes new changing rooms, a gym, and an accessible multi-use indoor space.
Richard Lawrence, Bute Energy’s recreation and health lead, said:
“We are so pleased to have been able to play a small part in this ambitious project being undertaken by Jenny, James, and others at Drenewydd Actif Newtown.
“Their hard work will hopefully pay off and deliver their long-term vision for a new facility.
“I want to thank RSK for their support on this project and really showing how collaboration and social value can impact communities in a big way.
“They’ve been brilliant.
“Fingers crossed for the funding bids!”
