Bute Energy has announced a strategic partnership with Bee1, a Welsh organisation focused on environmental sustainability, biodiversity, and female leadership.
The collaboration aims to advance Wales towards a clean, green future by combining Bute Energy’s onshore wind projects with Bee1’s efforts to protect pollinators and promote environmental education.
Bute said a key focus of the partnership is empowering women and girls to pursue careers in renewable energy, using the leadership role of the queen bee as an inspiring metaphor.
The initiative includes the installation of a Bute Energy-branded beehive housing 20,000 bees, reinforcing both companies’ commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement.
“As a company proudly headquartered in Wales, Bute Energy is delighted to partner with Bee1, a pioneering organisation from Wales that shares our commitment to sustainability and community engagement,” said Bute Energy director of community investment and communications Catryn Newton.
“This collaboration is a testament to our dedication to driving forward Wales’s transition to a clean, green future, while also supporting bold and innovative Welsh businesses,” she added.
A key element of this partnership is the shared commitment to empowering women and girls to pursue careers in the renewable energy sector. Bute Energy and Bee1 will bring the “Bee1 Experience” to two of Bute’s community partners in the coming months.
These educational visits will highlight the queen bee’s leadership role within the hive, using it as a metaphor for female leadership in business.
This initiative aims to inspire the next generation of women to assume leadership roles in the net-zero future.
Newton added: “I’m grateful to Mark and the team at Bee1 for supporting us in our mission to increase the number of women and girls pursuing careers in renewables.
“This partnership has drawn our attention to the important role of females in the hive and how we can draw comparisons between their qualities and the resilience and leadership women bring to the world of business.
“I look forward to sharing these powerful lessons with our staff and partners in the community.”
As part of this partnership, Bute Energy has installed a Bute Energy-branded beehive housing 20,000 bees, purchased from Bee1.
This initiative aligns with Bute Energy’s broader efforts to support biodiversity and ensure the survival of these vital pollinators, which are essential to maintaining a stable climate and a thriving economy, said the developer.
“At Bee1, we’re deeply committed to fostering sustainability, biodiversity, and female leadership within our communities,” said Bee1 founder Mark Douglas.
He added: “Partnering with Bute Energy is an exciting step forward in our mission to protect the environment and inspire future generations.
“Together, we are not only safeguarding vital pollinators like bees but also empowering women and girls to lead in the renewable energy sector.
This collaboration exemplifies our shared vision of a sustainable future for Wales, where innovation and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.”
