SeaRoc Group has trained its first Japanese marine coordinator specialists for the Asian country’s offshore wind market.
Two members of the Hokutaku team went through a five-day course, split between SMC’s Hunmanby training centre and SeaRoc’s offices in Chichester.
The course provided grounding in marine coordination techniques and practices, as well as training on the SeaPlanner marine management system.
The training was the first of a series of courses planned under an international initiative established by SeaRoc’s consultancy team.
SeaRoc Group managing director Steve Pears said: “The offshore wind market in Japan is poised to enter a new phase of project construction.
“We are pleased that Hokutaku are taking the proactive step to prepare their trained turbine maintenance teams to enter this new phase and support offshore operations in wind farm construction.
“As new markets emerge in large scale offshore wind construction emerge – from the US to France to Asia – it is essential that local personnel are fully trained to manage safe and effective offshore operations.”
