OEG has reached a milestone with the installation of its 500th in-turbine welfare unit across the UK’s offshore wind sector.
The Aberdeen-headquartered company said the amenity solution improves working conditions by providing safe, self-sufficient toilet facilities directly within turbine towers, reducing the need for transfers to standby vessels.
Operating from 15 UK locations, OEG has supplied the units to major offshore wind developers. They are deployed at nine sites and designed for reliable performance in offshore conditions.
The facilities are fully off-grid, requiring no external power or water connection, with cassette cleaning provided under an OEG servicing framework.
Faye McFarlane, business development manager for OEG’s topside division, said: “With 500 welfare units now operational in UK waters, we are leading the charge in transforming offshore working conditions. These units give offshore technicians the comfort, hygiene, and dignity they deserve, while reducing unnecessary transfers between turbines and vessels, lowering risks, and enhancing operational performance for operators.”
She added that the welfare units support inclusivity by making offshore facilities more accessible for women and are helping retain a more diverse workforce.
The units are available in flatpack and fully built versions, with the former suited to operational sites and the latter for pre-assembly phases ahead of offshore installation.
