RES is celebrating its 40th anniversary and “exceptional growth” over the last four decades.
From a small team of wind energy pioneers in the 1980s, RES has grown into the world’s largest independent renewable energy company and employs more than 2000 people across 10 countries.
After delivering its first wind farm with an installed capacity of 6MW, RES has gone on to develop and construct more than 22GW of renewable capacity.
They including Southern Oak, one of the largest bi-facial solar projects in the US, Bjornberget wind farm in Sweden using 60 turbines, each with greater capacity than RES’ first wind farm and Murra Warra, the largest wind farm in the Southern hemisphere.
RES chief executive Eduardo Medina said: “Over the last 40 years renewable energy has moved from the margins to the mainstream and RES has been there every step of the way.
Now a truly global company, our vision for a future where everyone has access to affordable zero carbon energy remains steadfast.
“RES’ culture is the key to our success, built on a strong heritage of family ownership and a shared purpose. Following a capital raising exercise in October, we look forward to starting our 40th year poised for further growth across all our markets.”
