The UK government has awarded RWE a gold award, the highest badge of honour for supporting the Armed Forces community.
The award was received by RWE’s Jamie Lindsay and Marcus Peters during a ceremony at the Churchill War Rooms in London.
The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme recognises the positive role that employers play in supporting former army personnel and their families into meaningful working life, and inspiring others to do the same.
It encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and armed forces communities, and which align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
Within this year’s cohort, RWE moved up from silver to become one of only three energy sector employers to attain the gold award, along with nearly 200 employers of all sizes and sectors across the UK.
RWE UK country chair Tom Glover said: “Our pledge to fairness and respect for those who serve, and their families, is reinforced by achieving this gold award.
“It’s a great honour and we’re proud to support those who serve our country by bringing their skills, dedication and experience to our workforce.”
RWE currently employs more than 100 people with a link to the Armed Forces community in the UK.
