Vattenfall is recognized for its actions to cut emissions, mitigate climate risks and develop the low-carbon economy, based on data submitted by the company through CDP’s 2019 climate change questionnaire.

Vattenfall environmental head Helle Herk-Hansen said: ” am very proud that Vattenfall is now in the exclusive club of A-listed companies.

“This is a result of all parts of Vattenfall working together towards our goal of enabling fossil free living within one generation.”

CDP chief executive Paul Simpson added: “Congratulations to the companies that achieved a position on CDP’s A list this year, for leading in environmental performance and transparency.

“The A list companies are leading the market by tackling environmental risks and setting themselves up to thrive in tomorrow’s economy.”

A detailed and independent methodology is used by CDP to assess companies’ climate response, allocating a score of A to D- based on the comprehensiveness of disclosure, awareness and management of environmental risks and demonstration of best practices associated with environmental leadership, such as setting ambitious and meaningful targets.

“Being a member of the CDP A list is the best signal we can send to investors, customers and other key stakeholders that we are taking the climate challenge seriously and continuously improving in the field of climate protection. We are simply on the right track,” said Herk-Hansen.

CDP’s annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is “widely recognised” as the “gold standard” of corporate environmental transparency. The Climate Change A list is published by CDP each year.
