A total of 24 companies have qualified for the fifth round of renewable energy projects under the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), under the leadership and supervision of the Ministry of Energy.
The Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) released the list of companies, which includes EDF Renouvelables, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), Marubeni, Samsung C&T Corporation, TotalEnergies Renewables and Power Construction Corporation of China.
The combined capacity of Round 5 is 3700MW and consists of four solar projects. These are the 2000MW Al Sadawi project, the 1000MW Al Masa’a, the 400MW Al Henakiyah 2 and the 300MW Rabigh 2.
Under the leadership and supervision of the Ministry of Energy, NREP aims to maximise and optimise renewables’ share in Saudi Arabia’s energy mix to achieve 50% renewable energy to produce electricity by 2030.
