ABO Wind secured support for three solar projects and three PV plus energy storage developments totalling 20MW in Germany’s recent innovation tender.
The projects are expected to be commissioned in 2021 and 2022.
The three PV projects are located at Aulendorf in Baden-Wurttemberg, Einollen in Rhineland-Palatinate and Mossautal in Hesse.
The combination projects are located at Gumpen in Hesse, Lahr and Wahlheim both Rhineland-Palatinate.
Germany awarded a total of 677MW in its first ever innovation tender, which had a different format to onshore wind and solar auctions, such as no support for negative prices and fixed instead of moving market premiums.
It also allowed projects that combined renewable technologies and energy storage to bid.
ABO Wind head of project development in Germany Thomas Treiling said: “This six-fold success in the tender is a milestone for our company.
“The higher the renewable share in German electricity, the more urgent the development and market maturity of storage systems becomes.
“That is why we are delighted to be able to advance this important innovation.”
