Canadian Solar has closed $45m financing with Natixis for the under-construction 68MW Aguascalientes photovoltaic project in Mexico.
The facility will sell electricity to the Comision Federal de Electricidad under a 14-year power purchase agreement and clean energy certificates through a 20-year deal when completed in December.
Aguascalientes will use over 200,000 CS6U-P poly modules supplied by Canadian Solar.
Canadian Solar chairman and chief executive Shawn Qu said: “This is Canadian Solar’s first solar power project in Mexico and our first time working with Natixis.
“I expect more to come in this rapidly growing market. We have a 436MW pipeline of late-stage solar projects with PPAs in Mexico and look forward to collaborating with financial institutions, such as Natixis to, construct these projects.”
