EDF has signed optimisation and power purchase agreements with Verdant Energy to offtake solar generation and trade battery output from the developer’s Walpole and Cowley projects.
The deal builds on their existing partnership and follows the 50MW Warley co-located project agreed in September 2023. EDF said the new agreements reinforce its position as the UK’s largest buyer of renewable power, with the biggest PPA market share under contract.
Each site will combine solar generation with battery energy storage, allowing power to be stored during peak production and released to the grid when demand is high. EDF said the co-location model boosts efficiency and supports the UK’s net zero goals by increasing the availability of low-carbon power.
