Enel Green Power Brasil Participações has started commercial operations at two solar farms in Brazil totalling 546MW.
The 254MW Ituverava project is located in the municipality of Tabocas do Brejo Velho in Bahia, while the 292MW Nova Olinda facility is in the municipality of Ribeira do Piauí in Piauí.
Enel said it invested approximately $300m in Nova Olinda made up of long-term finance from Banco do Nordeste and its own finance.
Some $400m was invested in Ituverava with funding coming from Bank of China and Santander and Enel’s own coffers.
Nova Olinda features almost 930,000 solar panels over 690 hectares, while Ituverava comprises 850,000 panels across 579 hectares.
Both projects are supported by a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Brazilian Chamber of Commercialisation of Electric Energy, Enel said.
