Enel Green Power Brasil (EGPB) Participações has started construction of the 292MW Nova Olinda solar power plant in Brazil.
On completion, in the second half of 2017, the 690-hectare project will be the largest solar plant in Latin America.
Nova Olinda has a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Brazilian Chamber of Commercialisation of Electric Energy.
The $300m project is owned by four special purpose vehicles held by EGPB and is located in Ribeira do Piauí in Brazil’s northeastern state of Piauí.
Enel country manager for Brazil Carlo Zorzoli said: “The Brazilian government has developed an attractive and well-structured auction process.
“We look forward to continuing to invest in order to grow strongly in the country’s energy sector.”
