Endesa, through its renewable subsidiary Enel Green Power Espana, has started construction on the 50MW Los Naranjos solar farm in the town of Carmona, Seville province, Spain.
Work is expected to be completed by the end of 2020 and will involve an investment of €28.2m, Enel Green Power said.
Los Naranjos will be composed of 128,520 panels of 34W each and generate 100 gigawatt-hours a year.
Enel Green Power Espana will build nine switching stations, an electric substation and an underground cable network spanning 4.5km to operate the facilities.
The company has also been building the 50MW Las Corchas PV plant in Carmona, Andalusia, since the end of last year.
Construction of this renewable capacity is part of Endesa’s strategy to fully decarbonise its generation mix by 2050.
The goal is to achieve installed renewable capacity of 10.2GW by 2022, compared with the 7.4GW in 2019. This includes 879MW under the 2017 auctions, for a total investment of €3.8bn.
