Enel Green Power North America has started construction of the 150MW DC Aurora distributed photovoltaic solar farm in Minnesota.
Aurora will be the Enel Group’s largest solar power plant in North America and will consist of 16 PV plants.
All 16 facilities are expected to be online by the end of the year.
The $290m project will be partly funded by a capital contribution agreement with State Street Bank and Trust Company2 amounting to $140m.
It has a long-term power purchase agreement with utility Xcel Energy in Minnesota.
The project features a distributed solar design that consists of the installation of multiple small-scale solar sites.
EGP said each site will utilise linear axis tracking devices to maximise efficiency and production.
Approximately 400 construction jobs will be created at the peak of the building process.
