Engie and partners are to sell power from two solar farms in Senegal totalling 60MW to Senelec under 25-year power purchase agreements.
Construction and operation of the two projects, located in the Kaolack and Touba regions of the country, will be managed by Engie.
Investment partners on the project are the Meridiam consortium and the Senegalese sovereign fund Fonsis.
Engie Africa chief executive Yoven Moorooven said: “Engie has been committed to developing and implementing solutions that meet Africa’s economic and social needs for decades. The signing of the power purchase agreement demonstrates that our commitment to the region is ongoing.
“Our focus is now on the future and on finalising the projects in Kahone and Kael, ensuring that Senegal has access to sustainable energy for the foreseeable future.”
