Photovoltaic panels have begun arriving at the site of the 22MW Volgelsheim solar project in France, being developed by Engie.
The Volgelsheim project, in the Haut-Rhin region which borders Switzerland, was selected as part of the first batch of the “energy transition of the territory of Fessenheim” call for solar tenders by the Ministry of Ecological Transition.
Société Centrale PV Volgelsheim, whose shareholders include Engie Green and local group SAEM Vialis, is developing the project.
Commissioning is scheduled for August 2022.
The project is being developed on a former military site where the solar plant will occupy an area of 20 hectares.
The installation will be equipped with 41,472 modules in total.
Vialis and Engie Green have also revealed that the 11.5MW Ligelios solar project has been selected as a winner of the last ministerial call for tenders, the results of which were published in early March.
The ground-mounted solar power plant will be built on a degraded site on the western outskirts of the City of Colmar.
