UK renewables developer Enviromena has secured its first planning approvals and contracts in Italy for two solar projects.
Construction of the pair is to start in January 2023 for completion next summer.
Both form part of a 250MW pipeline across Italy and Sardinia.
The two solar farms are located in the towns of Alliste and Collepasso in the province of Lecce in the Apulia region in the south east.
The projects have been successfully registered for the FER 1 Decree incentive, introduced by the Italian government in 2019 to incentivise the introduction of renewable energy.
Both projects have secured an incentive tariff (per MWh generated) which is fixed for 20 years.
Enviromena has an office base in Italy’s capital, Rome, which will support the company’s execution of its existing Italian portfolio and also enable the company to attract more business in Italy.
Enviromena CEO Cabell Fisher said: “These sites are tremendously exciting and they are important for us because they represent Enviromena’s first projects in Italy.
“Not only do they demonstrate our capability, but also our commitment to continuing the expansion of Enviromena’s presence into the broader European market.”
He added: “These sites form a small part of Enviromena’s much larger 250MW Italian pipeline of solar projects and I am proud of our team and our partner’s demonstrated ability to deliver large scale renewable energy solutions across the European continent.”
Enviromena has more than 1.7GW of solar sites and battery energy storage sites in development and operation throughout the UK and Europe.
