EDF Renewables has partnered with Taiya Renewable Energy develop an offshore wind project ahead of bidding into Taiwan’s Phase-3 Zonal Development of Offshore Wind scheme.
Taiya initiated the Huan-Yang offshore wind project and is now focusing on preparing the project with new partner EDF Renewables for the upcoming tender.
Taiya chairman Irving Lin said: “Taiya selects the most suitable partners for every aspect of our offshore wind farm development projects to ensure that the projects will be delivered on time.
“For this cooperation with EDF Renewables, Taiya will also leverage its experience in engaging local stakeholders in combination with EDF Renewables’ international experience and industrial skills to support the development of the local industry chain, to build Taiwan into the Asia-Pacific hub for the offshore wind power industry.”
EDF Renewables General Manager for Taiwan Ming-Lung Chang added: “We believe that Taiya can provide instrumental experience in engaging the local stakeholders as well as the local industry.
“Together with EDF Renewables’ experience of more than 10 years in offshore wind projects development, construction, operation and maintenance around the world, the partnership will build a solid and extensive industry network.”
Huan-Yang Offshore Wind Farm is located off the shore of Changhua and will cover an area of approximately 53 sq km, in sea depths of between 15 and 45 metres.
The site is eight km from the shore at the nearest point and will use fixed-bottom foundations.
