France has launched a tender to develop 3GW of solar as the country attempts to triple its photovoltaic energy production by 2023.
The tender will be divided into six application periods of 500MW each until June 2019, with the first ending on 1 February next year, environment minister Ségolène Royal said.
Bidders will be assessed on criteria including production price per KWh, carbon impacts and their ability to enhance degraded sites and preserve woodland areas.
France generated 6737MW of power from solar PV at end-March 2016 and hopes to grow production in the next eight years.
