The German government has passed legislation to reduce barriers to investment in solar photovoltaics, following a “solar PV strategy” published in May 2023.
The law, passed by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK), is necessary in order to achieve the ambitious German climate targets and the expansion targets for solar energy.
The focus of the PV strategy is initially on the short and medium term perspective with the aim of implementing a large number of measures as quickly as possible and to remove a number of obstacles so the expansion of solar PV can be accelerated.
As part of the first Solar Summit, a first draft of the PV strategy was presented and discussed with representatives of the sectors, the federal states and the parliamentary groups.
Following the summit, the BMWK received more than 600 written comments on the draft of the PV strategy.
The final PV strategy was presented at a solar summit on 5 May 2023.
