GP Joule hands over 90MW German solar farm

GP Joule has handed over the first 90MW portion of a 300MW solar park in Schipkau in Germany to investor-owner Clearvise.

The Klettwitz-Nord phase is the first of three forming the Lusatia Energy Park, initiated by GP Joule, Terravent and Steinbock EE.

The 300MW solar park is located on the Klettwitz opencast mine site, in the municipality of Schipkau.

Klettwitz-Nord was commissioned earlier this year.

The second construction phase of Lusatia, Klettwitz Süd, comprising 80MW, is almost completed and is operated by GP Joule, Terravent and Steinbock themselves.

GP Joule Service is taking over the commercial and technical management of both plants.

The Lausitz Energy Park is one of the largest ground-mounted photovoltaic systems in Germany.

As part of the handover, a detailed acceptance procedure took place, which was completed recently.

The acceptance was accompanied by the asset management of Clearvise and Evergy Engineering GmbH as technical consultant.

“The smooth acceptance has confirmed the very good quality of the construction work. We would like to thank GP Joule for the truly excellent cooperation during the construction and commissioning phase,” said Petra Leue-Bahns, CEO of Clearvise.

“With GP Joule, we also have a competent, reliable partner at our side far beyond day-to-day operational management. We share common goals and values.

“Therefore, we are already very much looking forward to the long-term cooperation on site, which will make a significant contribution to a regionally compatible energy transition.”
