Solar projects dominated wind power in the latest renewable energy auctions in Poland.
In total, Poland awarded 1.7GW of capacity for renewable projects, of which more than 1.6GW was for solar and only 83MW for onshore wind installations.
Among the 129 winning bids, 126 of these were for solar photovoltaic installations, while the remaining three were for wind power, the country’s Energy Regulatory Office (URE) said.
In this year’s auctions, 75.9TWh of green energy with a maximum value of just over PLN 31 billion (€7.3bn) was allocated for sale.
However, in the two auctions that were resolved, a total of over 16TWh (21%) of electricity worth less than PLN 5 billion (16 per cent) was contracted.
As a result, photovoltaic projects with a total installed electrical capacity of just over 1623MW and onshore wind farms with a capacity of 82.7MW may be built.
