SSE’s 31MW Littleton solar farm (pictured) near Evesham in Worcestershire has entered full operation following a two-year construction programme.
The company said the newly completed solar farm can generate enough clean electricity to typically power around 10000 homes per year.
SSE added that the project marks another contribution towards delivering homegrown, affordable and secure clean energy to UK consumers.
The completion of Littleton marks SSE’s first operational solar farm asset delivered in partnership with Grupotec as main contractor.
Construction of the solar farm began in December 2023.
“I’m delighted Littleton Solar Farm is now fully operational as it marks the completion of SSE’s first operational solar asset. Safely delivering this project reflects the commitment and professionalism of our project team supported by our contractors and partners,” said Heather Donald, director of onshore wind, solar and battery at SSE Renewables.
“We now looked forward to Littleton Solar Farm providing vital homegrown and affordable renewable power for UK energy users.”
The 77acre site includes measures to protect and enhance local biodiversity such as maintaining hedgerows and planting new trees.
