SunPower Corp, ISE Group and Total have started construction of the 27MW peak Nanao solar power plant on Honshu Island in Japan.
The project is jointly managed by ISE Group, which owns 50%, while Total and its affiliate SunPower Corp own the remaining 50%.
It is being financed through non-recourse project debt arranged by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp, the mandated lead arranger for the project.
The Nanao plant is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2017.
It is being constructed on 25 hectares of land owned by ISE Group, an egg producer.
SunPower will provide its Maxeon solar panels, which meet Japan’s earthquake-resistant building standards, for the project.
