Oklahoma Gas & Electric Company subsidiary OGE Energy Corp and SunPower are to build a 10MW solar plant in Covington in Oklahoma.
Construction is expected to start next month, the partners said.
SunPower will design and build an Oasis power plant system at the site. The system has 50% fewer parts than conventional solar plants, the company said.
It will also provide operations and maintenance services when the plant starts commercial operation in early 2018.
SunPower president and chief executive Tom Werner said: “We commend OG&E for its commitment to including solar in its energy mix, and for selecting high performance SunPower technology to ensure reliable, long-term return on investment.”
