TotalEnergies has acquired the 59MW Dehesa Nueva del Rey solar park in Spain from developer Synergia.
Once operational, its more than 95,000 PV panels will generate enough electricity to cover the estimated annual consumption of more than 33,000 homes.
This ready-to-build project adds to the 3GW portfolio of solar projects TotalEnergies already has with environmental permits in Madrid, Murcia, Andalusia, Aragon and Castilla La Mancha.
It is estimated these facilities will generate enough renewable electricity, once in operation, to cover the estimated average annual consumption of a region such as the Community of Madrid.
TotalEnergies Renewables Spain managing director Yago Mancebo Ferreiro said: “TotalEnergies has made a firm commitment to contribute to Spain’s energy transition with the promotion of renewable energies.
“We continue to make progress in achieving our objectives with the incorporation of projects such as Dehesa Nueva del Rey, with all the necessary permits to start construction, and expanding our portfolio of renewable energy projects, which now exceeds 4GW, in line with our nature as a multi-energy company.
“All this to offer Spanish consumers sustainable, more affordable and closer energy.”
