More than 4.1GW of new solar photovoltaic capacity was installed in the US in the third quarter of 2016, a 191% increase on the same period last year, according to GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association.
The quarter is the most successful ever for US solar installation, the US Solar Market Insight report said.
California became the first US state to add more than 1GW of utility PV in a single quarter, the research said.
In total, 14.1GW of new PV installations are forecast to come online in 2016, up 88% over 2015, the report added.
