X-ELIO has been secured a support contract for 15MW of solar in the Japanese governement’s first Feed-in-Premium (FIP) auction held by the Ministry of Economy and Trade Industry.
Overall, METI awarded 153.7MW of new solar PV capacity in the country.
X-ELIO’s solar project will be located in the Yamaguchi Prefecture, and the estimated commercial operations date is expected to be in the second half of 2024.
The Spanish developer established operations in Japan in 2012 and since then has successfully developed 380MW of 100% renewable energy.
X-ELIO country manager Toshiaki Isoi said: “Japan has an enormous challenge ahead to reach its net-zero ambitions and X-ELIO’s team is highly committed to develop innovative structures to continue at the forefront of the Japanese solar industry.”
