Mainstream Renewable Power and its Vietnamese joint venture partner Phu Cuong Group have applied to the authorities in Vietnam to add a 1GW second phase to the planned 400MW first stage of the Phu Cuoong Soc Trang offshore wind farm.
The Irish developer said the joint venture aims to start work on the first phase next year, with commercial operations in 2023.

The application for a site survey licence for the second stage was submitted in July, Mainstream said.
If approval is granted for the 2nd phase, the 1.4GW wind farm would supply over 1.6 million homes with renewable electricity, it added.
