Nordex wins 472MW double from OX2 in Finland

Nordex has received an order for three N175/6X 7MW turbines for the 21 MW Marienmünster-Altenbergen project in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The order from developer Westfälisch-Niedersächsische Energie is the first the supplier has received for the machine, which has a hub height of 199 meters and a blade tip height of 286 meters.

Construction of the foundations is scheduled to start in September 2026, with commissioning of the wind farm planned for summer 2027.

The turbines, the tallest in Nordex’s offering, will be installed on the developer’s hybrid concrete and steel towers.

Nordex added in a release: “The increased hub height allows the turbine to access more stable wind flows earlier, significantly improving the availability of the system, especially during periods of low winds.”

Managing Director of Westfälisch-Niedersächsische Energie Alexander Möhring said in a release: “We are very pleased to be able to carry out this pioneering pilot project together with Nordex and to contribute to a significant milestone in the wind energy sector.

“The extraordinary hub height of 199 meters represents an important step for our region in moving away from fossil fuels toward renewable energy, thanks to the increased reliability of wind turbine yields.”

Vice President Region Central of the Nordex Group Karsten Brüggemann said: “With the N175/6.X at this hub height, we are opening up entirely new possibilities for our customers in terms of economical and market-oriented wind power generation compared to other turbine types.”
