Northland Power, Mitsui and Gentari have installed the first turbine at the third phase of the 1GW Hai Long offshore wind farm off Taiwan.
The developers said the milestone marks entry into a critical construction phase and highlights local offshore wind industrial development.
They added that the turbine nacelle was assembled at Siemens Gamesa’s facility in Taichung and installed offshore by CDWE.
A total of 73 locally assembled nacelles have been completed and are being transported offshore for installation across the project.
The Hai Long project said the installation reflects progress in embedding offshore wind technology and local supply chains in Taiwan.
“The successful installation of the first turbine at Hai Long 3 wind farm demonstrates the synergy between our project team and local contractors as we move steadily toward full grid connection,” said Tim Kittelhake, CEO and project director of the Hai Long project.
“As a major flagship project, our deep collaboration with the local supply chain not only fulfills localization requirements but also elevates the technical and quality standards of Taiwanese suppliers, enabling them to compete in the international market.”
