VSB has received approval to build the 36MW Pfaffenhausen wind farm in Jossgrund in the Main-Kinzig district of Hesse, Germany.
The company said the Darmstadt Regional Council granted consent for five Vestas V172 turbines, each with a capacity of 7.2MW.
VSB added construction is expected to begin at the end of 2026, subject to a successful award in the Federal Network Agency’s onshore wind tender.
The wind farm is expected to generate enough electricity to supply around 34,000 households annually.
The project includes a contribution of €0.002 per kilowatt hour of wind power generated to municipalities within a 2.5 kilometre radius under the Renewable Energy Sources Act.
“Hesse has made significant gains in the expansion of wind energy in recent years and also in the speed of approval procedures,” said Thomas Winkler, managing director of VSB Germany.
“Because VSB stands for trust, participation and local value creation.”
“The Pfaffenhausen wind farm is an example of our claim to implement energy transition projects with foresight and responsibility,” said Dr Felix Grolman, chief executive officer of the VSB Group.
“Every new plant not only brings us a step closer to a climate-neutral energy future, but also strengthens the security of supply in Germany and Europe.”
