Greenvolt Power has signed a strategic partnership with Danish energy trader Reel to optimise the 157MW Høegholm hybrid solar and battery project in Denmark.

Greenvolt Power said the Djursland-based project combines 97.36MW of solar PV with a 60MW/120MWh battery energy storage system and is currently under construction, with commercial operations scheduled for the first quarter of 2026 for the photovoltaic plant and the fourth quarter of 2026 for the BESS unit.

The company added that Reel will provide real-time balancing, market optimisation and hedging solutions through its proprietary trading platform, managing participation in wholesale, intraday and ancillary services markets as well as structuring Power Purchase Agreements.

Once operational, the Høegholm plant is expected to produce around 97GWh of clean energy per year, enough to meet the needs of more than 24,000 Danish households.

Anders Engtoft Meldgaard, CCO and co-founder of Reel, said: “The Høegholm project is a prime example of the future of renewable energy: hybrid assets that combine generation and flexibility. We are excited to partner with Greenvolt Power to manage this complex asset. By leveraging our optimisation platform, we will ensure that the renewable energy produced in Høegholm is fed when the grid needs it most, maximising both climate impact and commercial performance.”

Łukasz Zagórski, commercial director energy management origination at Greenvolt Power, added: “This partnership reflects our long-term strategy to build resilient and high-performance renewable energy platforms across Europe. Collaborations of this kind strengthen our position as a stable and reliable business partner, while allowing us to implement projects that raise the standards for hybrid renewable infrastructure,”

Henri Schuman, business development director at Greenvolt Power in Denmark, said: “Securing a sophisticated optimization partner is crucial for a project of this scale and technical complexity. Reel’s experience in the Danish market and their innovative approach to balancing and optimization align perfectly with our goal of providing resilient renewable infrastructure. Together, we are setting a new standard for how solar and storage can work in tandem to support Denmark’s 2030 climate goals.”
