A federal district court judge in Massachusetts is today set to hear a request from lawyers representing Iberdrola/Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners joint venture Vineyard Wind 1 to allow developers to finish the nearly completed 806MW wind farm.
Work on the project has been stalled since 22 December when US President Donald Trump’s administration ordered a sweeping halt to all five offshore wind projects under construction in US waters.
Developer’s behind all five projects have requested injunctions blocking the enforcement of the shutdown order, and Judges have granted three injunctions so far to Orsted’s 704MW Revolution Wind, Equinor’s 810MW Empire Wind 1, and Dominion Energy’s 2.6GW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind.
Lawyers representing Vineyard Wind 1 say the project is 95% complete, with only a single GE Vernova Haliade-X 13MW turbine is left to install, and replacement blade sets for 10 turbines.
DEME’s Sea Installer vessel is contracted to the project until 31 March, and is set to depart afterward.
