Apex Clean Energy has closed financing for three utility-scale renewable energy assets across Texas, Ohio and Illinois.
The company said the transactions cover nearly 670MW and represent about $2.79bn in financial commitments supporting construction and operation of the assets.
It added that together they comprise Coles Wind, Emerson Creek Wind and Raven Storage.
“Raven, Emerson Creek, and Coles reflect the collaboration of committed partners and dedicated teams working together to deliver complex projects,” said Ken Young, Apex CEO.
Raven Storage is a 100MW battery system in Wharton County, Texas, and is part of SA Grid Solutions, a joint venture between Apex Clean Energy, SK Gas and SK Eternix, and marks Apex’s first financing with Bank of Hope.
Emerson Creek Wind is a 269MW wind farm in Erie and Huron Counties, Ohio, financed with a construction and term loan and letter of credit facility from CIBC, Helaba and Santander and a tax equity commitment from Wells Fargo.
Coles Wind is a 300MW project in Coles County, Illinois, that secured construction and term financing underwritten by Santander, with J.P. Morgan as sole tax equity partner.
The financings close out a year in which Apex brought 1.1GW of new capacity online across six states, commercialised more than 1.5GW of projects and advanced a large development portfolio.
